Pulogadung UP PKB Continues to Improve Kir Test Services

The  Pulogadung Motor Vehicle Testing Management Unit (UP PKB), East Jakarta, continues to improve its vehicle roadworthiness tests (Kir) services. One of them is by implementing a door-to-door program and intensifying socialization.

We keep improving this service and hold outreach to PO bus administrators

Pulogadung UP PKB Head, Edy Sufa'at said one of the Kir test service targets was inter-city inter-provincial (AKAP) and tourism buses, which aims to minimize the bus accidents.

Previously, his party had held a Kir test service by visiting bus pools including PO Sinar Jaya, Primajasa, City Trans, and Hiba Utama.

QRIS User in Jakarta Keeps Growing

"We keep improving this service and hold outreach to PO bus administrators, thus they regularly run periodic tests. What is no less important, after the periodic tests, operators must also hold vehicle maintenance," he explained, Friday (5/31).

To run the service, his party brought a mobile testing service car with six competent officers.

Pulogadung UP PKB's Infrastructure and Facilities Unit, Agus Sugiarto added the public can also monitor using the Cek Kir application, whether AKAP and Tourism buses domiciled in Jakarta have been tested for Kir or not. If not, they could look for a bus that has been tested for travel safety and comfort.

According to him, socialization conducted had included barcode banners at the Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal. As for buses outside Jakarta, they could be checked via the MitraDarat application.

"Using this barcode, people can find out, whether the bus they are going to ride is roadworthy or not. Just scan the barcode and enter the bus vehicle number," he added.

Pulogadung UP PKB Sub-agency Head, Andi Jaya Prana uttered that every day, there are 20 AKAP or Tourism buses that undergo KIR tests at his office.

From that number, only one or two buses did not pass the test. Deficiencies in the records include, for instance, the absence of seat belts for the driver or passenger or the lack of a glass-breaking device.

Some did not pass the Kir test, as the brake settings were not correct or the brake pads were starting to wear out and had to be replaced.

"If it has been met or repaired, the vehicles will pass the test when they come back," he concluded.
